NEW RATING SYSTEM
Get yourself rated
In 2005 the Club introduced the Tennis Canada Rating System. It is important that all members try to self-rate themselves according to the Tennis Canada Rating System, as it is required for all organized programs at the club. House League, Tournaments and the Challenge Box Ladder all require a mandatory Tennis Canada rating.
Why did we change from colour ratings?
The Tennis Canada Rating System is widely accepted and provides a recognised standard against which players from our club as well as from other clubs can compare their skill levels.
It has much finer gradations for members to better assess their progress and improvement. It also allows more consistency in skill levels across a variety of tennis programming.
Not only does it facilitate placing players in the right grouping, it allows players to gauge their own performance against the sport’s standard.
This was an initiative that was debated by practically every incumbent Executive during the past several years. The Tennis Canada descriptions of playing levels are very thorough and better than those provided by the NTRP rating system used in past seasons. As a rough guide, the old NTRP yellow is probably a 3.0, an orange is around 3.5. A very strong orange is a 4.0.
